Working with the Feeling Body
Tuesday 23rd January 2018: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Media Factory UCLAN Preston, Lancs.
What’s your experience in your own body?
What do you notice in another’s?
How can our creative and therapeutic work support the exploration and grounding of our felt experience?
In this Movement Therapy workshop Paul will guide you through an exploration of an embodied experience of your feeling selves. Beginning with tuning in to sensation, we’ll notice how this overlaps with our emotional experience. We’ll explore body resources to ground and calm the system, as well as those to support exploration, understanding and change.
“I work with a wide range of people, from young babies to those in their 80s. One of the foundations of my movement therapy practice, is to keep a track of my own feeling states, to discern what’s there, and find ways that I can use this in service of the client’s need. It can be complex, but the resource of knowing more of what we feel in response to what we encounter in life, can give us insight and breathing space, to find our way.”
The workshop will include movement, partner work, play and shared discussion. It is suitable for Dance Movement Psychotherapists, dancers, movement practitioners, bodyworkers, therapists, and those with an interest in how our bodies and movement support our work in the field of health and wellbeing.
The session draws on Paul’s 20 years of experience in working with movement and the body, and his study and practice of Authentic Movement, experiential anatomy and somatic psychology through his training as an Integrative Bodywork & Movement Therapist. You can read more here.
